The DD3 Classic MK3 is EcoAir’s larger domestic desiccant. Moisture removal is 11 litres per day at 20 °C / 60 % RH. Operating range is 1–40 °C. Those two lines are the purchase. You are not comparing 11 L with a 20 L compressor headline, because the compressor headline was taken at 30 °C / 80 % RH and will have fallen away by the time the room is the 8 °C utility this machine is for.
Power is the honest drawback. EcoAir quotes 25 W while the unit samples humidity. Low extraction is 420 W. High is 735 W — laundry and deep-dry territory. Sampling is why a desiccant this size can sit in a house without drawing 735 W all afternoon. Noise is 36 dB(A) on the quiet figure and 47 dB(A) on high. The tank is 4.2 litres with a lid and handle. A 1 metre drain hose is typically in the box.
The body is 379 × 520 × 239 mm. Weight is 7.5 kg — larger than the DD1, still half the weight of an Arete One 20 L. You get a digital humidity display and a timer at 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours. Laundry mode, an antibacterial filter, auto-restart and anti-tilt are on the sheet. Brand room guidance is up to about 90 m² or a 3–6 bedroom house. If the cold space is one utility, the DD1 Simple MK3 is the proportionate desiccant. If the house itself is cold, or you want the digital controls and the larger tank, the DD3 is the step. If the house is heated and you are shopping litres, go back to the 12 L and 20 L compressors; you would be buying a desiccant’s running cost for a job they are not uniquely good at.
