MeacoDry Arete Two 20L
Arete Two 20 L keeps the same 20 litre compressor class, 4.8 L tank and Arete shell as Arete One 20 L. What changes is the DC motor, a third fan speed Meaco rates at 255 m³/h, a manual louvre, the LCD and Meaco app control. Lead with Meaco’s 8.50 L/day at 20 °C / 60 % RH — the carton 20 L is the 30 °C / 80 % RH point.

Arete Two 20 L is the same 20 litre compressor class as Arete One 20 L. The tank stays 4.8 litres, the shell is the same 618 × 366 × 272 mm wall-flush Arete body, and the operating window is still 5–35 °C. Weight is 15.1 kg. Refrigerant is R290 / 65 g. What changes is the motor and the controls: a DC fan with three speeds (150 / 175 / 255 m³/h), a manual louvre, the LCD Chase display, and Meaco app control with Alexa and Google. Arete One 20 L stays on an AC motor with two speeds at 145 / 160 m³/h and no app.
Lead with Meaco’s published table, not the carton badge. At 20 °C / 60 % RH — a heated British living-room row — the take is 8.50 litres per day at 207 W. At 20 °C / 80 % RH, closer to a damp house, it is 13.85 litres at 217 W. The 20.45 litre figure is the warm, wet laboratory point at 30 °C / 80 % RH. Cooler rows still matter: 3.35 L/day at 10 °C / 60 % RH and 5.90 L/day at 10 °C / 80 % RH. That is why a compressor floor of 5 °C is not a cold-utility answer — for that job read the EcoAir DD1 Simple MK3 or the Meaco DD8L.
Noise is published as 38, 40 and 50 dB(A) on low, medium and high. The third figure is the laundry-airflow speed, not the night figure. Night mode dims the display. Quiet Mark is advertised on Meaco’s sheet. Continuous drain takes a 12.5 mm garden hose that is not in the box; an optional pump is sold separately if the drain point is higher than the machine. H13 HEPA is in the carton; optional charcoal is sold separately. Warranty is five years on the Arete range. Soft recent band sits roughly £250–£350 — check Amazon for today’s listing rather than treating any single price as live.
Buy Two instead of One when the machine will sit in another room and you will use the app, or when indoor laundry is frequent enough that 255 m³/h matters next to the airer. Stay on Arete One 20 L if you want the documented 20 L table and the quieter two-speed night story without Wi-Fi. Stay on Pro Breeze 20 L if the job is a larger tank, a hose in the carton and a softer band beside the airer. Laundry mode still dries an airer in a closed room; it is not a tumble-dryer cycle time. A later comparison of One 20 L versus Two 20 L belongs on its own page once both reviews exist — this page is the Two 20 L review only.
Published specification
Extraction figures and room sizes are manufacturer claims, often measured at warm/humid lab points. UK rooms are usually cooler, so real take is lower. We have not run our own lab tests.

Where it fits
- Heated 3–5 bed houses that already point at a 20 L compressor.
- People who will actually open the Meaco app or use Alexa / Google.
- Indoor laundry next to an airer, where the third fan speed is the reason to step up from Arete One 20 L.
Where it struggles
- The room is unheated or often below 10 °C — use EcoAir DD1 Simple MK3 or Meaco DD8L.
- You will never use the app or the third speed — Arete One 20 L is the same class for less complexity.
- You want the largest tank and a hose in the carton — Pro Breeze 20 L.
- You only need a small heated flat — Arete One / Two 12 L.
On the sheet
- Full Meaco temperature table, including the 20 °C rows this site uses.
- 8.50 L/day at 20 °C / 60 % RH documented; 13.85 L/day at 20 °C / 80 % RH.
- Night settings published at 38 and 40 dB(A); Quiet Mark advertised.
- H13 HEPA in the box; five-year warranty.
- Continuous drain port (hose not included).
- App + humidistat, so it can stop at a set RH rather than run all day.
Limits worth knowing
- Same 4.8 L tank as Arete One 20 L; a wet laundry day still means emptying.
- High fan speed published at 50 dB(A).
- Hose and pump are extras.
- Still a 5 °C compressor floor.
- You pay more than Arete One 20 L for motor, app and airflow, not for a new litre class.
Common questions
Is the Arete Two 20L suitable for a cold UK utility?
No as a cold-room machine. It is a compressor with a 5–35 °C operating window. Below about 10 °C Meaco’s own table already falls to 3.35–5.90 L/day. For an unheated utility, porch or garage-adjacent room, use a desiccant such as the EcoAir DD1 Simple MK3 or the Meaco DD8L.
How does Arete Two 20L differ from Arete One 20L?
Same 20 L compressor class, same 4.8 L tank, same Arete shell and the same 5–35 °C window. Two adds a DC motor, a third fan speed Meaco rates at 255 m³/h, a manual louvre, the LCD Chase display, and Meaco app / Alexa / Google control. You pay for control and laundry airflow, not a jump to a new litre class.
What does the Arete Two 20L cost to run?
Meaco publishes 207 W at 20 °C / 60 % RH. That is a few pence per hour at the current electricity cap — check your tariff rather than freezing any published pence figure. App and smart humidity mode can stop the machine at a set RH so it is not running flat-out all day; laundry mode will draw more while the fan is on high.
